What is the worst pain you have ever experienced?
(Apart from supporting West Ham and being on WHO daily)

For me:

Kidney stones
Literally in agony rolling on the floor sweating until I passed the stone with blood in my piss.

Wisdom teeth
Constant throbbing from impacted infected tooth. Instant relief when pulled (paid private to get it done after weeks of agony and no luck on NHS)

Cluster headache
Sheer agony like your head is expanding and about to explode
.
....and this morning before work a fucking throbbing abscess on my gum that I'm gonna fucking lance myself and rinse with salt water as getting a dental appt these days is like winning the lottery

Anyway I'm off for a BIG SHIT before I go to work.

I've also had kidney stones and agree that they're fucking painful.

But ten years ago, I got an infection called chikungunya, spread by mosquitoes. That completely whacks you out, but worse is the headache. I've never had pain like it. It felt like my head was being pressed from both sides and was going to explode. Pure agony and on a par with, or worse than, kidney stones.

I remember as a kid having teeth drilled before the anaesthetic had kicked in and no one believed me. After that I always dreaded the dentist.
About 20 years ago I had an infected toenail dealt with. The podiatrist was ex army and used this weird needle that was curved to go round the bone as he injected. He thought that it was numbing the tissue ahead of the needle and didn't hurt. He was wrong. I always dreaded the podiatrist after.
As a teenager I had debilitating migraines.
Only real accident was a dopey one. Was going to a night club with friends. Had to run across the road to beat traffic. Went through a gap between parked cars, one of which had a tow bar.. I never had my shin x-rayed but I was able to walk after several minutes on the floor being laughed at, so didn't bother.

For ongoing discomfort definitely wisdom teeth... not infected but just growing at awkward angle. Couldn't eat properly and constant pain 24 hours a day. Paid privately to get them out and then had another two weeks of even worse pain 24 hours a day like something was drilling through my head. I'd had another wisdom tooth out two decades before and not had any problem afterwards but the dentist did say it could still hurt for up to two weeks and he was spot on.

For one off pain, during surgery on a broken nose they packed my nose with gauze type string or similar. After the surgery on the ward they then pulled the string out. I was literally screaming - the only time in my life I've had that pain - like sandpapering the inside of my head.

Can't think of much, so probably the dentist. Made me chuckle in a recent series of CURB when Larry was in the chair at his dentist and he said to him 'what's it like being someone that nobody wants to see'.

As a child in the 60s we never had any anaesthetic for fillings. Hard to believe now. Only for extractions which was achieved through being completely knocked out with gas. My dentist was as of advanced years and it was not until I spoke with school friends who told me about these things called injections that they had at their dentist I realised there was an alternative.

An upstairs surgery (Shenfield High Street opposite the station) with creaky brown stairs which I can still hear and smell to this day.

Tried to sleep off appendicitis for a couple of days. That was stupid. But the worst was gout. Couldn't tolerate a sheet touching my toe.

I think toothache is the worst l have ever experienced about 35 years ago with a very decayed tooth. When l eventually had the courage to go to the Dentist it took about an hour to get the fecker out as it kept breaking. The pain for 3 or 4 days after tho was excruciating.

The only thing that came close was some cnut studded me on my achilies gave me gyp for years afterwards

Also broke my arm on the oppposite side at the same time - getting out of bed was an adventure.

Re: What is the WORST PAIN you have ever experienced?
I would normally agree with gout - suffered from it while I was in Bangkok - managed to hobble from my apartment to a taxi that took me to hospital but not enough of a real man to refuse a wheelchair when we got to the hospital.

That being said, I had a trapped nerve in my back whilst living in Den Haag - flat on my back and every time I moved seemed to take the pain up to another level (and just a few hours before my kids came home from school expecting supper).

I decided that I must have moved in some way to trap the nerve so the way to untrap it would also be moving - absolutely excruciating pain and I must have passed out at some point. However, when I came too, the pain had subsided to a bearable level and I was at least able to be a dad - albeit in very slow motion - that evening.

Pain-killers & anti-inflammatory pills saw me through the night and by the morning it was just a dull ache - and my big worry was triggering it again.

I had 2 experiences with Quinsy in my 20’s, they were particularly uncomfortable

Stomach pain with gastric flu probably next

And I’m sure we all know how nasty / frustrating accidentally biting your tongue is, I can go years without doing that then I’ll do it every day for a week
